About Us

Halifax Malayali Association: as the name describes, this is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious association for promoting the cultural and social activities of Malayalees in Halifax. HMA was formed in July 2022 with the blessings of several families and individuals.

The travel history of Malayalees spans centuries and across multiple continents. We metamorphose the shores we reach as our home and always embrace our beautiful culture and festivals close to our hearts. This may be a reason we are being called “God’s own people” from “God’s own country”.

Recently, Malayalis have seen Canada as their second home. A forum exclusively for Malayalis in Halifax was conceived since Malayalis in Canada are becoming more and more numerous.

Through HMA (Halifax Malayali Association), we can unite and join our hands to pass the culture on to generations. As a team, we can conduct cultural activities, linguistic programs, festivals, charity activities, etc. HMA will be a forum where we all can meet and exchange our views and foster our friendship.

Malayalis in Halifax are represented in HMA, which advocates for their wellbeing and cultural needs. With all our cooperative efforts, HMA is pledged to keep our next generation abreast of our mother tongue, culture as well as our enriched heritage.

We are open to collaborating and wallowing in with other cultural groups and ethnicities who are originally from Kerala, other parts of India, and from others around the world. Let us hold our hands to form a composite culture with every color and song to be felt and experienced in its original essence under a single umbrella.
